Jason was born and raised in Timmins, Ontario, the son of a hard rock miner. Jason was the first in his large extended family to attend university and graduated from the University of Guelph in 2001. He then attended law school at the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 2005. During his post-secondary education Jason spent his summers working first as a miner at the Kidd Creek mine in Timmins and then as an asphalt and concrete labourer and finisher with Lafarge Construction in Guelph and with HC & C Contracting in London.
Jason completed his Articles of Clerkship at Harrison Pensa LLP and was called to the bar in 2006. Jason worked for a respected criminal defence firm prior to joining the Ministry of the Attorney General as an Assistant Crown Attorney from 2007 to 2012. In January of 2012, Jason left the Ministry to open his own criminal law practice, Skinner Law Professional Corporation.
Jason now works primarily in criminal defence and in the defence of traffic charges and other provincial offences. Jason and his associate, Jenna, also prosecute commercial motor vehicle offences in the London and Stratford areas for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario.
Since 2015, Jason Skinner Law has been recognized by Three Best Rated as a top criminal defence firm in the area. In 2020, Skinner Law was awarded the Canada Prestige Award in the category of Boutique Criminal Law firm, the only year in which they entered the competition, and was the Gold Medalist in the London Community Votes in the category of Best Law Firm in 2022/2023.
